What's in a job?

Frakture Bots work in chunks of effort known as “jobs”.  It’s how we monitor what they’re doing, track errors and retries, etc.  While each type of job is slight different, we try to structure jobs to be the equivalent of about 20 minutes of dedicated human effort.  For example:

  • Log into a CRM, schedule and execute a report, and then download and parse and clean the results before producing a suitable file
  • Clean and load a file into a database table, accounting for various field types and data lengths, and upserting if necessary
  • Run a database query spanning a few million records, and kick the result out to a Google Spreadsheet

With the right amount of knowledge, each of these tasks would take a human around 20 minutes to complete.  We link these jobs together in sequences (known as Dataflows), so one process may involve 6 tasks, that would collectively add up to 2 hours of equivalent human time.

It’s not perfect, but it’s a pretty good shot at helping teams evaluate how much time they’re saving with automation and Bots!
